Title: Strategic Human Resources Business Partner

Position Summary & Key Areas of Responsibility


- Employee relationship building and understanding of HR strategies, policies and programs, and by providing value-added advice and counsel in all areas of human resources.


- Understanding of clients business goals, objectives, and operating environment, developing and implementing a LOB HR plan to enable the business in meeting their goals and objectives.


- Manage employee relations issues such as harassment, discrimination, or theft, in a manner that mitigates company risk and leads to successful resolution; Partner with NCR legal counsel and local unions as appropriate.


- Ensure compliance with local labor law/statutory requirements; Where appropriate, partner with local labor organizations to manage contract negotiations, labor relations, grievances, etc.; Work with local government agencies to ensure the health, safety, and security of employees.


- Develop and/or drive organizational retention initiatives; Manage terminations of contract of employment.


- Supports the deployment of global HR processes and programs; Drives deployment and implementation of HR programs/processes within a division; Serves as a focal point for communication of HR programs/processes locally.


- Plan and coordinate the delivery of annual Corporate HR initiatives related to Performance Management, Talent Planning, succession planning. Ensuring the needs of the client groups and Corporate HR are met in a timely and efficient manner.


- Execute the tactical components of NCRs human resources & labor relations strategy to help operational leaders foster a positive employee relations environment where employees prefer a direct relationship with managers.


- Position responsible for developing and implementing strategic, targeted organizational effectiveness strategies to support NCR's vision and strategies that drive performance. These strategies will include high-level, complex enterprise-wide projects and initiatives such as: leadership development strategy design, plans and execution.


- Establish organization change management strategies and resources towards achieving functional goals and develop OD services and capability to support global talent management and learning strategies.


- Participate in the development of competency models to be used throughout the organization for selection, assessment, training and development and succession planning; Assist, support and monitor development activities of succession candidates toward goal of developing "ready-now" candidates for all key positions; Develop high potential and successor candidates to meet future talent requirements.


- Provide organizational design consulting support.


- Assesses and monitors the effectiveness of all development and training initiatives against predefined metrics.


- Ensures continued organizational effectiveness in talent acquisition through both acquisitions and organic growth.


- Handle escalated issues within HR Central that cannot be resolved by HR Representatives to employee and manager overall HR support. This includes all matters under the support of HR that are not resolved in Tier I.


- Advise and coach managers in building effective employee engagement practices, issue resolution, and proactive intervention in locations at risk of union activity.


- Provide guidance to leaders regarding labor relations issues, effectively respond to union organizing activity, participate in all phases of union contract negotiations to include preparation, bargaining and contingency planning, and advise operational manager in maintaining an effective working relationship with unions while maintaining a high-performance culture in areas where our employees are represented in the United States and Canada.


- Develop and delivery labor relations training and assist in effectively responding to union organizing activity.


- Assist in all phases of union contract negotiations to include preparation, bargaining, and contingency planning.


- Advise managers on issues related to union contract administration, contract interpretation and grievance/arbitration matters.


- Ongoing research and monitoring of general union trends, NLRB developments and rulings with potential impact to NCR and key information regarding unions with which NCR has relationships.


- Research and respond to sophisticated and complex labor relations and employment law issues in a time-sensitive manner.


Basic Qualifications


- Bachelor's degree - a major in business, human resources, labor or related field


- 8-10 years of related experience


- Experience in positive employee relations / preventative labor relations efforts


- Experience supporting unionized work environments


- Experience in Employee Relations, including grievance, terminations, disciplinary matters, etc.


- Ability to influence business leaders and key stakeholders


- Ability to build strong working relationships with remote based managers and corporate based partners


- Ability to comfortably relate and communicate with front line employees, as well as managers at a variety of levels


- Strong project management skills


- Strong Microsoft Office applications, SharePoint, MS Teams and Internet research skills


- Generalist HR knowledge; PHR, SPHR or SHRM-CP preferred


- Ability to travel up to 40-50% of the time or as needed


- Innovative knowledge of the principles, methods and metrics of managing organizational change and organizational development strategies that aligns to key business goals


- Strong ability to lead and apply organizational and change theories


- Excellent facilitation, public speaking, interpersonal, and communication skills required


- Strong vendor relationships to develop a network of OD resources and tools


- Knowledge in continuous improvement and Lean Six Sigma


Preferred Qualifications


- Experience in union organizing campaigns


- Experience with contract negotiations and administration of collective bargaining agreements


- Masters Degree preferred
