Job Description & Qualifications
Manage a large team or a group of small teams that develop, implement
and support new/existing software applications and hardware platforms.
Work with user groups to ensure operational stability and that
applications meet the practical needs of the company.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
Builds relationship with key user and operations groups to
identify and resolve business issues.
Manages and provides technical and business direction that affects
capacity planning, new applications, data security and LAN
Manages and tracks the progress of multiple development projects
to include administration, work plans, resource planning and
control, status reports, and budgeting. Conduct regular project
Resolves information services problems by analyzing issues,
discerning the most appropriate course of action, providing
tactical direction and reallocating resources as necessary.
Conducts financial analyses to support strategic planning on
system purchases, upgrades and reclamation. Negotiates favorable
prices with vendors.

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions
would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and
there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions
there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Education and Experience
* Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 7+
years of experience in a related field. May require certification.
Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications & Job Specific Details
The IT Manager, SAP BW, HANA, & Azure cloud Manager will be working as
a part of a Center of Excellence (COE) team that supports the HD
Supplies Enterprise platform.
The BI Manager leads the execution of Data and BI strategy. The
Manager is involved in all phases of the analytic projects, from
requirements gathering, data architecture, integration coordination
and developing support artifacts.
Provide support with ongoing systems development and business
intelligence activities within the assigned function(s). Define
project plans to include schedule, cost estimates, work breakdown
structures and resource plans, and lead the analysis of requirements
through interactions with business users, subject matter experts and
project team members.
The BI Manager leads BI IT resources for data gathering, data modeling
and data reporting. The successful candidate architects the growing
landscape of interconnected systems, builds efficient and
well-maintained data flows, and ensures proper documentation and up to
date systems. She/He partners with business partners to provide
methods and/or technologies for the integration and dissemination of
content and leads a core team of resources that support business
systems process, change management and compliance processes, advanced
reporting, data testing and validation, training, and documentation.
The BI Manager demonstrates senior-level leadership skills and
experience in guiding the team to build a self-sustainable BI
platform. She/He utilizes standard methodologies, defines and governs
BI architecture standards, leads and supports development efforts,
manages BI demand, evaluates resource capacity, prioritizes and leads
the scoping efforts. The person in this position mentors other
resources in maintainable development practices and code reviews and
ensures accurate capitalization / expense activities of the project
team and provides business insight across multiple domains.
To be successful in this role, you must have at least five years of
Project Management, SAP BW, SAP Enterprise HANA and Azure Data Lake
implementation experience in a global company. You must be an
effective requirements analyst, project lead and analytics solution
architect with a track record of successful BI application delivery.
Potential candidate must have good understanding of dimensional
modeling, ETL, and SAP HANA act as SME in the SAP BI analytics, and
data visualization areas. This role will also work with users to find
opportunities to maximize performance and minimize costs; lead
projects without direct supervision; and oversee development and
execution of implementation and deployment plans.
Provide operational support for SAP BW landscape.
Leading the organization towards Enterprise HANA and Azure cloud.
Assisting in building solutions, application development and
Formulating key reporting and analytics requirements, designs and
Building data models for reporting and visualization
Designing, developing and leading ETL processes
Identifying and activating SAP BI standard business content
Mentoring other SAP BW, HANA & Azure cloud resources
Assessing existing data warehouse processes and envisioning future
Assessing the impact of new SAP releases on the current system
Facilitates release scoping, design, build, test, change control,
documentation and deployment activities with internal BI project
and operations teams, business partners and compliance teams
Leads business user communication regarding release scope and
Ensures appropriate risk resolution and mitigation for BI
platforms as issues are identified
Must have deep technical expertise in multiple SAP BI suite of
products, especially BW, HANA, and visualization tools i.e. BOBJ,

B.S. degree or M.S. degree in Computer Science or 10 plus years of
in-depth hands-on experience in EDW platform; or possess an equivalent
combination of education and experience.
Critical Thinking: Develop, support and implement the data
integration strategy for the central data foundation.
Communication: Leverage interpersonal communication skills to
develop and manage cross functional relationships with internal
business partners like sales, marketing, finance, and supply
chain. Maintain a trusted business partner standard interacting
with stakeholders and senior leadership.
Problem Solving: Architect business wide reporting and analysis
solutions and develop new applications and dashboards in response
to identified business needs. Provide ongoing support for data
usage and analysis throughout the organization. Anticipate and
proactively develop future requirements to build solutions geared
towards future needs.
Continuous Improvement: Lead project implementation of selection
solutions for the collection, compilation, and organization of
datasets from multiple data sources. Analyze current systems and
processes and recommend new and improved ways to manage data for
better and faster decision making.
Work Standard: Establish and maintain process standards, policies,
and procedures for a strong BI program at HD Supply.
Teamwork: Develop, train, and mentor team members to facilitate
their career growth as well as drive excellence in their execution
of business objectives.
7-9 years experience focused intensely on data modeling, data
analytics and reporting
10+ years of Managemenet experience in supporting a complex SAP
landscape with architecture, design and deployment experience of
major release/project roll-out a must.
Ability to manage multi-faceted projects with complex deliverables
and meet aggressive deadlines
Proficient experience architecting BI tools and framework needed
Experience in relational data bases (MS SQL, Teradata, Oracle,
DB2) and good knowledge of SQL
Strong background in data architecture, data mining, and data
Knowledge of BI tools e.g. SAP HANA, Snowflake, SAP BW
Strong experience in visualization tools such as BO, Tableau
Experience or knowledge of Azure Cloud technology (Azure
architecture, implementations, and migrations)
A history of establishing KPIs and targets and introducing best
Excellent communication skills with both technical and business
